Over the last decade or so I have tried various diets and workout routines but have never stuck to one long enough to make a significant difference. I have always wanted a better physique and have known over the years that it is possible to drastically change my appearance in as little as 12 weeks. With this knowledge, I have tried to complete 12 weeks of sticking to a specific diet and workout routine but found that I made it to around halfway through and gave up. This was due to being too restrictive with my diet and expecting results straight away.

A contributing factor to giving up was listening to lots of different advice from different personal trainers and people at the gym. All were giving their own opinion on what diets and workouts I should be doing; I would then act upon these different opinions by changing my diet and the way I worked out too often. This would then have a poor effect on the results I was getting making me think, what’s the point? I was working out four-to-five times a week and being really restrictive with my diet but because I was taking the wrong advice it wasn’t getting me anywhere.

This year was a turning point for me, as a lot of significant things happened which made me re-evaluate my life. I had turned 30 and a visit to my local health clinic revealed that I had both high cholesterol and glucose levels. I had been on two trips overseas and by the time May had arrived I was the heaviest and most out of shape I had ever been.

It was at this point I decided I was going to do something about it once and for all. I then began looking on the internet for a 12 week challenge, as I needed a goal and purpose to work towards to keep me on track and motivated. That is when I found the BodyBlitz Challenge. Upon reading more about it, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. I then researched a diet and exercise plan that I knew I could stick to and told myself it’s now or never.

I found the first four weeks of my training almost easy, as I was so focused and motivated. However, after this point, mentally it was harder to stay on track. I’d got to this point many times before and many times given up, but because I had committed myself to the challenge I was determined to see it through. This was enough motivation to get me to the end of my 12 weeks for the first time ever.

I did have times where I had a cheat day here and there but ultimately I’d put so much hard work into my diet and exercise that the day after having a cheat day I was back on track.

I am so happy that the hard work and dedication has finally paid off. This challenge has not only improved my health but has positively affected other areas of my life. I now believe that if you set yourself goals, no matter how hard they seem, you can achieve them with the right attitude.

I am now going to set myself further goals and timeframes in which to get even leaner and that perfect beach body I have always wanted for the summer. IM
